What about Nuclear?

Major parties are currently promoting Nuclear as an option for Australia. Do we support Nuclear Power in Australia?

Surprisingly we do. Modern nuclear facilities are safer, smaller and more efficient and Australia is in a unique position where we can mine the uranium ourselves.

Why is it important?

Renewables are great, but lack consistency for ‘the grid’. The grid requires a stable base load of electricity and if we one day want to phase out our reliance on coal and oil that stability pushed into the grid for it’s base load will have to come from nuclear. Solar is great but over produces at times and underperforms at other moments in the day. AAP supports micro, small and refined nuclear plants in environments that have been assessed heavily for high safety standards. It’s not cheap, but it is necessary for modern day and future Australia.
